WALTER NICHOLAS BORESIUK

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Walter Boresiuk, age 76 years of Flinders Place, 851 Colonization Rd. W., Fort Frances, Ont., who passed away at LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. on Monday, August 7, 2006.
He was born on May 28, 1930 in Mine Centre, Ontario to the late Nicholas and Jennie Boresiuk. Walter moved to Fort Frances at the age of 17.
He attended Fort Frances High School and later traveled extensively by rail to the west coast and the United States. In his earlier years, Walter worked one summer in Toronto, two summers working as a cook on the railroad, and for a period of time making skis and other fine products at Herrem Woodworkers.
On August 21, 1961, Walter was united in marriage to Alverne Green.
In Fort Frances, Walter worked at the Brewers Retail where he was affectionately known as “Beer Store Wally.” Walter retired in 1984 following 44 years of employment with them.
Walter had a love for trains, railroading, and especially, steam engines. One of Walter’s loves was enjoying the outdoors with a genuine love for nature of which he also brought their children up to respect. He also loved taking his family camping and for cookouts at his favourite spots.
In all, Walter was a loving husband, father and grandfather (Papa) and a kind and generous man and will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Jennie Boresiuk; one daughter Beverly Boresiuk in 1984; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Lloyd and Thelma Green; and two brothers-in-law Glenn Green and Mervin Green.
Walter is survived by his wife Alverne Boresiuk of Fort Frances, Ont.; three daughters, Charlene and husband Jim Halvorsen, Jennifer and husband Ron Silver , and Laurie and husband Albert Bedard all of Fort Frances, Ont.; four grandchildren Cassandra and Miranada Halvorsen, Ravyn Bedard, and Christopher Silver; two sisters Verona and husband Henry Gosselin of Winnipeg, Man., and Rita and husband Bob Matheson of Calgary, Alta.; nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, Ontario with Pastor Brian Keffer officiating.
Honourary pallbearers will be Grant Watson, David Halvorsen, Edward Halvorsen, Ted Halvorsen, Ron Halvorsen and Ellis Williams.
