RUSSELL WADE DICKSON

Russell Wade Dickson, 65, passed away Sept. 10, 2005 of Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS).
He had been born Aug. 13, 1940 in Elgin, Ill., raised in International Falls, Mn., and was a long time resident of Mobile, Ala. He was the son of Grace Coral Dickson and Russell Earl Dickson (deceased) of International Falls, Mn.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Juanita Alvarez Dickson; son, Daniel Dickson; daughter, Kimberly Dickson Cooper; and two grandchildren, Mary Grace and John Collin Cooper, all of Mobile, Ala.
He also is survived by siblings, Sheila Dickson Tate, Susan Dickson Nolan, William Albert Dickson, Michael Earl Dickson, Thomas Charles Dickson, all of International Falls, Mn., Patricia Dickson Mitton of Jordan, Mn., Beverly Dickson Maki of Fort Frances, Ont., and Stephen Allen Dickson of Iowa.
He served four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Antietam (CVS-36). He later retired from the Mobile County Public School System as an electrician after 30 years.
He was a lifetime member of the N.R.A., the Alabama Society of Traditional Bowmen, and Bay Forge Blacksmith Organization. He was vice-president of the Mobile County Bow Hunter Association (Mobile Chapter) and was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
Visitation was held from the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005 from 5-8 p.m. Rosary was said at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from St. Pius X Catholic Church on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. Interment was in the Catholic Cemetery in Mobile.
The pallbearers were Thomas Dickson, Johnny Gottler, Van Norman, Sulo Maki, William Cazalas, Nicholas Dickson, Bruce Monk, and Garnet Tate.
