CLINTON IRA WOOD

Clinton Ira Wood, of Atikokan, Ont., who was born June 1, 1936 in Emo, Ont., passed away suddenly on June 28, 2006 at the Atikokan General Hospital.
He survived by his wife of 49 years, Marlene; sons, Rolie of Merrrit, B.C., Wayne (Jan) of Edmonton, Alta., and Steven (Valerie) of Calgary, Alta.; daughters, Becky Groulx (Kreg) of Atikokan, Ont. and Charlotte (Nicholas) of Edmonton, Alta.; and sister, Shirley Davis (Ken) of Fisherbranch, Man.
He also is survived by 11 of his grandchildren, Derek, Shaun, Kyla, Jeffrey, Daniel, Alicia, Jennifer, Ryan, Shelby, Cassandra, and Jennifer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Ira Wood; mother, Vida Wood; and brother, Philip Wood.
Clinton grew up and spent his younger years in Northern Ontario. He received his welding certificate from Confederation College in Thunder Bay, Ont. and was first a welder at Steep Rock Iron Mines and later at Highland Valley Copper in Logan Lake, B.C., where he retired in 1999.
He moved out west in 1978 to Edson, Alta. and then to Logan Lake, B.C. in 1980. He returned to Atikokan after his retirement in December, 2003.
He was loved by family and friends, and will forever be sadly missed.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hwang and the nursing staff at the Atikokan General Hospital for all their help and support.
A memorial service was held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Atikokan on Saturday, July 1, 2006, with Rev. Gord Waldie officiating.
Internment will be held at a later date.
