ALICE JOHNSON

Alice Johnson, 89, of Seine River First Nation, Ont., passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2006 in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Alice was born June 2, 1916 at Seine River First Nation and had lived most of her life there. During her earlier years, she enjoyed going to Pow-Wows, doing beadwork, and gardening. She also cut pulpwood in the district.
She was very close to her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Mary (Emile) Morin and her grandchildren, Marjorie, Adrian, Amanda, Perry, Theresa, and Jeffrey. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren; one brother, Bud Friday; one sister; Alice Chisel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Johnson Sr.; two sons, John Johnson Jr. and Edward Johnson; daughter, Frances KabataY; her parents; brothers, Jim, Wayne, and Harry Lightfeather, and Jack Spencer; and sisters, Rosie Snowball of Northwest Bay First Nation and Mary Blackjack of Seine River First Nation.
A traditional service was held Saturday, March 4, 2006 in the morning at the Seine River First Nation Gymnasium. Elder Billy Blackwell officiated, followed by interment in the Seine River First Nation Cemetery.
A funeral wake was held Friday, March 3, 2006 from 3 p.m. at the Seine River First Nation Gymnasium.
The pallbearers were Walden Spencer, Anthony Kabatay, Jeff Perreault, Clarence Johnson, John Kabatay, Dennis Johnson, Randy Kabatay, and Gerald Johnson.
The honourary pallbearers were Ken Johnson, David Spencer, Steve Spencer, and Earl Klyne.
