Jack (Robert John) Miller, 59, of Crystal Lake, Ont. passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 21, 2006 in Red Lake, Ont.
Jack was born June 6, 1946 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Holmes and Edna Miller. He grew up in La Vallee, Ont., where he worked at the Miller Store. He later moved to the Atikokan, Ont. area in 1966, where he worked for the Caland Ore Mine. He also had worked in the bush doing several different jobs.
For the last seven years, he’s worked for Dynatec in Balmertown, Ont. as an electrician at the Gold Corp Mine.
He was a member of the La Vallee United Church in La Vallee, and a member of the Lions Club and the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #145 in Atikokan. He enjoyed his time at Crystal Lake and looked forward to spending his time off there at the home he built.
Jack and his wife, Georgia, enjoyed travelling. He was an avid curler, and also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf. He was a loyal husband, father, and friend, and we will miss him dearly.
Jack was united in marriage to the former Georgia McQuaker (nee Vinkle) on March 2, 2002, who survives along with his daughter, Kari Miller of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and his stepchildren, Tanya Ross of Thunder Bay, Ont. and Doug McQuaker of Crystal Lake, Ont.
Also surviving is his brother, Gary (Diane) Miller of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Holmes and Edna Miller.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 26, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the Riverview United Church in Atikokan. Rev. Gord Waldie officiated, followed by interment in Little Falls Cemetery in Atikokan.
Friends visited prior to the funeral service at the church.
The pallbearers were Rod Hoard, Ed Thurier. Gary Miller, Brady Bujold, Norman McQuaker, and Al Wensley.
The honourary pallbearers were Pat Creaser and Marcel Landry.
