Vi Ross, 95, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2006 at Rainycrest Home for the Aged in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born March 3, 1911 in Farrington, Ont. to Edward and Nancy Calder. The family moved to Fort Frances and later she was united in marriage to Archie Ross.
Vi worked many years as a waitress at the Rainy Lake Hotel and was a member of the Royal Purple.
She enjoyed many things in her life, especially spending time with family and friends. She was always positive and exhibited her culinary skills to the fullest.
Violet was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Nancy Calder; husband, Archie in 1982; brothers, Edward (Wardy), William, Victor, Stan, and Reg; and sisters, Cecelia Armit and Doris Hill.
Violet is survived by her sons, Dale (Shirley) and Owen (Maureen); brother, Ernest Calder Sr. (Eileen); grandchildren, Monte (Sue), Greg (Megan), and Sandra; great-grandchildren, Nolan and Davis Ross, and Danielle and Sarah O’Sullivan; plus her four-legged friend, Sammy.
In accordance with Mom’s wishes, no formal service was held. Cremation took place and a memorial service was held Friday, May 26, 2006, officiated by Chaplain John Chornabay.
A private family burial took place.
