Peacefully with her family at her side, Mabel Delores Bruyere passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006 in her home on Couchiching First Nation.
Mabel was born Sept. 23, 1941 in Fort Frances, Ont. and remained living on Couchiching First Nation for her entire life. Mabel was married to her one true love, Vernon Bruyere, in June, 1957.
Throughout the years, Mabel completed the Early Childhood Education and Homemaker program. She worked at the Rainy Lake Group Home as a cook and then went on to work as a homemaker until she became ill.
In her spare time, Mabel loved to be with her family and friends, as well as to knit, do crosswords, puzzles, playing cards, and going to the Bingo.
Mabel is survived by two sons, Randy (Venus) and Vernon (Pat); six daughters, Charlene (Terry), Romona, Fern (Marcel), Jackie (Clayton), Beatrice (Shane), and Verna (Jason); and three brothers, Rudy and Melvin (Irene) Morrisseau, and James Banks.
Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, Jamie, Bryan, Rachel, April, Charity, Angela, Kristen, Joseph, Ronald, Kara and Haley Bruyere, Sarah, Clayton Jr., and Timothy Windego, Dennis Morrison, Michelle Linklater, Desiree and Callie Perrault, Joanna, Dianna, Shannon, Jennifer, and Kevin and John Singleton; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Bruyere; parents, Marjorie Morrisseau (McPherson) and Alex Morrisseau; and brother, Elton Morrisseau.
Mabel also leaves behind her precious kitty, “Baby,” and all of her special friends at the Couchiching Seniors Complex.
Prayers will be said Monday, April 17, 2006 at 7 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 5 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Couchiching First Nation.
Pallbearers will be Harold Lyons, Charlie Windego, Elton Morrisseau, Derek Mainville, James Morrisseau, and Ronald Bruyere.
Honourary pallbearers will be Armaline Mainville, Mildred Bruyere, Melvina Morrisseau, Donalda Mainville, Wayne Morrisseau, and Roger Mainville.
