WILLIAM (BUSTER) ARCHIBALD BROWN Jr.

William (Buster) Archibald Brown Jr., 86, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., formerly of Stratton Ont., passed away peacefully with his family at his side at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances on Tuesday, May 9, 2006.
He was born May 14, 1919 in Morley Township (Stratton) to the late William and Grace (Ethel) Brown. During World War II, he served in the Canadian Army for four years in Canada until his discharge.
On Dec. 19, 1945, William was united in marriage for 50 devoted years to Lena, his Ukrainian sweetheart, who later passed away in January, 1996.
As a son, a father, and husband, William was a faithful family man. In his heart, he was a farmer and steward of the land into which he had put his hard labour.
He also worked as a pulpwood cutter in the winters, and a carpenter and road and bridge construction foreman at times for the municipality.
In November, 1998, William married Louise Smith and moved to Pinewood, Ont., where he was a member of the Our Lady of the Way Roman Catholic Church. Later, he and Louise returned to Buster’s farm home in Pattullo.
Wherever there was a dance, Buster would be in the midst as he enjoyed playing the accordion and violin.
He was predeceased by one sister, Noreen Korpi (Howells), in 2003.
William is survived by his wife, Louise Elstad Brown of Clarkesville, Ga. and a loving extended family in the U.S.A.; his own five children, Larry Brown and wife, Lauren, Sandra and husband, Gordon Martin, Barry Brown and Carolle LaBonte, Wayne Brown and wife, Jo-Ann, all of Atikokan, Ont., and Linda and husband, Dave Hammond, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by one brother, William G. (Billy) Brown and wife, Bertha, of Barwick, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Millennium Hall in Stratton, with Rev. Barbara Miller officiating.
