The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has confirmed the first death related to COVID-19 in Northwestern Ontario.
According to the TBDHU, a man in his 50s passed away on Thursday night at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre from complications of COVID-19.
The health unit said the man had underlying health conditions.
The Northwestern Health Unit has one active case as of press time today.
