Cocaine and cash seized

RED LAKE-A 24-year-old Balmertown man has been arrested for the possession of $7,000 worth of cocaine and a small amount of Canadian cash.

On Jan. 28, officers from the Red Lake detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of officers from Kenora Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Dryden and Kenora CSCU and Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau (POIB) executed a search warrant on a residence in Balmertown. The man has been charged for Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, Possession of Proceeds of Property obtained by Crime under $5000 contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada and Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released on an Undertaking to appear in Red Lake court on March 12, to answer to the charges.
