It was a dominant weekend of racing for Emo’s Brody Strachan.
After claiming the checkered flag once again in the WISSOTA Modifieds division in Borderland Racing Association action on Saturday night at the Emo Speedway, he followed that up with another win in the same division the following day at the Lake of the Woods Speedway in Kenora.
It was the first out-of-town racing victory for Strachan in his career.
Competing in just his second race of the season at the Emo Speedway, Jeff Davis of Devlin finished as the runner-up to Strachan in Saturday night’s feature.
Davis was followed by Matt DiPiero (Fort Frances), Brandon Pelepetz (Emo), and Tyler Brown (Rainy River).
Strachan’s seventh win of the Borderland Racing Association season further padded his lead atop the division’s point standings with 1,171.
Brown currently sits second (1,055), followed by Pelepetz (1,000), Ron Korpi of the Fort (973), and Gary Wilson of Devlin (880).
In WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds action on Saturday night, meanwhile, Tanner Williamson roared to his second win in a row.
It was also the third checkered flag for the Fort native in four weeks.
Williamson garnered the win over the likes of two-time defending champion Cody Ossachuk of the Fort and Mike Wilson of Devlin.
James Lambert (Fort) wound up fourth while Murray Kozie (Headingley, Man.) rounded out the top five.
Williamson’s win helped vault him into fourth in the points standings with 840.
Ossachuk’s runner-up finish has him sitting pretty in first with 1,104 points.
Lambert currently is second (1,069), followed by Mike Wilson (1,028), while Carter Kinnear of Emo rounds out the top five (755).
And in the Street Stocks division, Jesse Thompson earned his first-ever feature win.
The Emo native nabbed the checkered flag ahead of defending points champ Tylar Wilson of the Fort and Raice Westover, also of the Fort.
Kevin Desserre (Dryden) wound up fourth followed by TJ Wickstrom of International Falls.
Thompson’s win helped trim the gap between him and the current points leader, Raice Westover, to 70 (1,138-1,068).
Jyllian Westover of the Fort is third (1,008), followed by Wilson (1,005) and Doug Derendorf of the Fort (849).
Racing resumes this Saturday, with hot laps starting at 7 p.m. and the first race to follow at 7:30 (weather permitting).
