The Couchiching Raiders are off to a great start to the Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League season.
Grace Bragg pitched brilliantly to help the host Raiders hand the Big Grassy Lynx their first loss of the season in a 12-2 romp on Monday night.
It also was the third-straight win for Couchiching while Nancy Indian suffered the loss for the Lynx (3-1).
In other games Monday night, the three-time defending champion Fort Frances Her-icanes improved to 2-0 with a 23-0 blowout of the Dawson Tigers.
Marissa Kerry nabbed the shutout win while Alicia Anderson suffered the loss for the Tigers (0-3).
Rylee Redford homered an incredible three times to pace the Fort Frances Angels to a 19-2 thrashing of the Manitou T-Birdies.
Hanna Ledrew also went yard for the Angels (2-1-1) with Redford notching the pitching win.
Bev Cochrane suffered the loss for Manitou (0-3).
Ashley Barker hit a round-tripper to lead the Renegades to a convincing 16-1 win over the Sabaksong Tebinaak.
Mykenzie Borger nabbed the Renegades’s third-straight win (3-0) while Rochelle Jack was tagged with the loss for Sabaskong (1-2).
And the Red Gut Babes and Fort Frances Mud Dogs battled to a 12-12 tie.
Alyssa Windego pitched the Babes to their second-straight tie to begin the season (0-0-2) while Rachelle Yeo opposed her for the Mud Dogs (0-2-1).
The Northwest Bay Beavers (0-2) had the bye.
Tonight’s games (weather permitting) will see the Mud Dogs attempt to pick up their first win of the season as they welcome the Tigers, Manitou will play host to Big Grassy, the Babes will battle the Raiders, Sabaskong will travel to Northwest Bay, and the Her-icanes will square off against the Renegades.
The Angels have the bye.
