Illinois man busted at border

On Wednesday, May 22 at 3:50 p.m., officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for service from Canada Border Services indicating that they had a subject in custody for criminal-related offences.

Officers attended the scene and commenced an investigation.

As a result, officer took custody of a 45-year-old Hanover Park, Ill. resident, transported to the detachment where further tests were conducted.

The man has been charged with the following offence:

  • Operation while Impaired-80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of Blood contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

He will appear in court on June 24, 2019 in Fort Frances Provincial Court to answer to the charge.
