Both Muskie boys’ volleyball teams returned from Dryden victorious in NorWOSSA action last Tuesday.
The senior squad evened its record to 2-2 following a 3-1 win in the best-of-five showdown by scores of 25-19, 25-14, 21-25, and 25-20.
“We had strong serving by a number of boys, but led by Cole Allan and Brandon Larson,” co-coach Jason Cain noted via e-mail last week.
“Ben Smith and Kobi Ward both played very well, earning a large number of kills in each set,” he added.
Cain said the team has put a lot of focus into transtioning quickly from offence to defence, as well as running strong and effective middle attack, over the past two weeks.
“The practice seems to be starting to pay off as the boys are accomplishing more and more every game,” he remarked.
“[But] there is still a lot of work to do in the coming weeks,” warned Cain, who is serving as co-coach with John Gibson.
The squad resumed NorWOSSA play today in Kenora against the Broncos, then will head to a tournament hosted by the Dryden Eagles this Friday and Saturday (Oct. 13-14).
The junior squad, meanwhile, improved to 3-1 in NorWOSSA play with a 3-1 win over the host Eagles last Tuesday.
The set scores were 25-17, 25-23, 22-25, and 25-16.
The juniors also were in Kenora today to face the Broncos.
