‘Trunk or Treat’ seeking vehicles

The “Project Safe Hallowe’en” committee is gearing up for its fourth-annual “Trunk or Treat,” which will be held Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 5-7 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library’s parking lot.
But you can’t have the event with decorated “trunks” (vehicles) and with just two weeks to go, organizers are asking more people to get into the Hallowe’en spirt by agreeing to decorate their vehicles and hand out candy to trick-or-treaters.
“Last time I checked . . . we had seven vehicles registered,” library CEO Caroline Goulding noted yesterday afternoon.
“And also we’re getting the fire department and EMS coming, so that will be nine total so far,” she added.
“We’re on a good track but we can always use more.”
Last year saw about 15 decorated vehicles take part, and Goulding would love to see at least that many again this Hallowe’en.
Those wanting to sign up can do so online at eventbrite.ca or by dropping by the library in person.
You also can contact Goulding at 274-9879 or via e-mail at cgoulding@fortfrances.ca
Individuals and businesses also can help out with the “Treat” part of the event by donating candy.
“They can either drop candy off at the library, or they can donate funds at the library and we can go buy it for them,” Goulding explained.
She noted donors will get a sign they can put in their window, indicating they’ve donated their candy to “Trunk or Treat.”
The library also will be keeping tabs on who donates so–with their permission–they can acknowledge donors in a published “thank you” afterwards, added Goulding.
She noted candy donations already have started to come in.
“My office is filling up and my willpower is getting tested,” Goulding quipped.
“Trunk or Treat” also will include activities such as a photo booth to take Hallowe’en family photos, a “costumed catwalk,” obstacle course, limbo, and maybe even a dunk tank.
Candy, or monetary donations to buy it, can be dropped off at the library anytime during business hours.
