Donate food for fines next week

If you’ve got late dues at the Fort Frances Public Library, next week will be the time to pay them–and support a good cause at the same time.
In celebration of Ontario Public Library Week (Oct. 15-21), the local library is holding a “Food for Fines” campaign where patrons can donate food in lieu of paying their library fines.
“Every non-perishable food item donated will be worth $2 off your fine,” library CEO Caroline Goulding told the Times.
All proceeds will go to the Salvation Army food bank here.
The library will cap the week off with a “yard work party” next Friday (Oct. 20) starting at 11 a.m.
Goulding said anyone is welcome to drop by and show their love for the library by pitching in to help clean up the library grounds.
“Basically, we’re going to be doing a little bit of pruning, and a little bit of cleaning up some of the trees and the shrubbery and that kind of stuff,” she noted.
