SHIRLEY ANN SULLIVAN

Sullivan, Shirley

Shirley Ann Sullivan (nee Hodge), of Hope, B.C., earned her wings on Jan. 14, 2016 in her 81st year.
With her trademark smile on her face, and her devoted children and granddaughter holding her hand, Shirley went to Heaven.
While we mourn her passing, we also will delight in many wonderful memories. Her amazing demeanour, infectious smile, and giggle will be forever in our thoughts and hearts.
Shirley is survived by five loving children, Brian Sullivan (Shirley) of Lillooet, B.C., Barbara Bedwell (Verne) of Terrace, B.C., Sandra Sullivan of Hope, B.C., Susan Maximiuk (Garry) of Cache Creek, B.C.. and Mike Sullivan of Loon Lake, B.C.
Her grandchildren, Verne and Calvin Bedwell, Ayla Will (Landon), and Jeremy and Alisha Bedwell, Sandie Maximiuk, Tracy, Bradley, and Kimberly Tamas, and Nicole Sullivan; and step-grandson, Chad Bailey, will hold her memory dearly.
Her great-granddaughters, Paisley and Kylie Landon, will grow up delighted with heart-felt and often hilarious stories of their precious great-gramma. And her step-grandchildren, Ella-May and Ryley Bailey, will relish her memory.
Shirley also will be forever remembered with love and deep affection by her sister, Sandra Williams (Gordon) of Stratton, Ont.; brother, Doug Hodge (Shirley) of High River, Alta.; brothers-in-law, Alan Webb of Fort Frances, Ont., and Glen Sullivan (Heather) and Ralph Sullivan, both of Hope, B.C.; special cousin and friend, Gail Lowes (Wayne) of Rosedale, B.C.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
In the words of her favourite good-bye, we love her the “mostest mostest.”
Shirley was predeceased by her soul-mate and loving husband, George; son, Murray and infant daughter, Sherry Ann; parents, Bert and Louise Hodge; big sister, Doreen Nixon; infant sister, Lucille Hodge; and sister-in-law, Daryl Sullivan.
Shirley was born Oct. 26, 1935 in Emo, Ont. and raised in Emo and Stratton, Ont. She worked for a while with her dad in the Stratton Co-op as a teenager.
She married George Sullivan of Stratton in 1956 and worked as the Morley municipal telephone operator for a brief period. They later moved to Atikokan, Ont., where George hauled ore at Steep Rock while Shirley began her career of raising their children.
In 1962, when the iron-ore industry was struggling, the couple moved with their then four children to Hope, B.C., where the youngest two boys were born.
They raised their family in the happy and friendly environment of the Fraser Valley.
A celebration of Shirley’s life was held Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 in the Hope Legion.
If you so wish, in memoriam donations may be made to the Fraser Canyon Hospice Society of Hope, B.C.
“Never say Good-Bye, Just say So Long.”
(The family was saddened to hear of the passing of Shirley’s brother-in-law, Alan Webb, on Jan. 27. May he rest in peace).
