ROLAND ERNEST JOSEPH LAROCQUE

Larocque

Sadly, the family announces the sudden passing of Roland Ernest Joseph Larocque, 75, of Emo, Ont., at his residence on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015.
Roland was born Feb. 8, 1940 in Rainy River, Ont. to Ernest and Jean (Legros) Larocque.
He was united in marriage to Beulah McNally on June 13, 1963.
Roland worked in Thompson, Man. for three years before moving to Atikokan, Ont. with his wife, where he raised his three children.
Roland worked at Caland Mine until the mid-1970s. After that, he worked at Proboard up until his retirement in 2004.
During his time in Atikokan, he also was a volunteer firefighter for 22 years.
After his retirement, Roland moved to Emo, where he had built his forever home.
Roland’s highlight of his life was his grandchildren. Whenever he was around them, you would find him on the floor playing with them. His favourite pastimes were fishing, playing cards, and visiting with family.
Dad was a hero to many but there was one moment that he made us very proud. He risked his life when he ran to the scene of an accident and pulled a young man out of an accident.
Roland will be sadly missed by his wife, Beulah; children, Rolly (Magda), Cory (Shona), and Sandra (Bert); grandchildren, Kayla (Josh), Charlie, Hayden (Tiffany), Joseph, Spencer, Keiran, and Fiona; and great-grandson, Henry.
He also is survived by his siblings, Fernande, Aline, Lorraine (Rosaire), Robert (Darlene), Lina (Lawrence), Yolande (Albert), Noel (Elaine), and Angele; brothers-in-law, Jimmy, Lazare, and Alex; along with numerous sisters- and brothers-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Roland was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Jean Larocque; daughter, June Marie; siblings, Florise (Felix), Estelle (Alan), Rhea, Jeanine, Claire, and Theresa (Harold); and his in-laws, Charlie and Mabel McNally.
Parish prayers were offered Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Way Catholic Church in Pinewood, Ont.
A funeral mass followed on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015 at 11 a.m., with Fr. Allan Lapay officiating.
Interment took place in Our Lady of the Way Catholic Cemetery.
The honourary pallbearers were all of Roland’s grandchildren and nephews, Ernie, Claude, David, and Bert Seguin.
