Lorna Jarvis

In loving memory of Lorna Jarvis, 80, of Rainy River, Ont., who passed away Thursday, May 2, 2002 at the Atikokan General Hospital in Atikokan, Ont.
Lorna was born Dec. 29, 1921 in Zealandia, Sask. to William and Martha Woodcock. She moved as a teenager to the Rainy River area, graduating from Rainy River High School.
She was united in marriage to Clyde Raymond Jarvis on Aug. 10, 1940 and together they farmed north of Rainy River. Later on, she ran the canteen at the arena for several years.
Lorna was an active member of the Our Lady of Good Council Roman Catholic Church and a long-time member of the Catholic Women’s League. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and later bird-watching and travelling to see family in British Columbia.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Martha Woodcock; husband, Clyde on June 5, 1995; and son, Ronald Shane Jarvis in 1980.
Lorna leaves behind her sons, Harold and wife, Judi, of Atikokan, Ont., Leonard and wife, Ruby, of Kamloops, B.C., George and wife, Geri, of Winnipeg, Man., and Robert of Rainy River, Ont.; and daughters, Mary Louise and husband, Ernest Kowal, of Oakburn, Man., Celine and husband, Helmut Termath, of Whitehorse, Yukon, and Sheila and Wally Palaszewski of Timmins, Ont.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer), Shannon (Jeffrey) Johnson, Cheryl and Lonnie Lind, Raymond (Tracey) Jarvis, Kimberly (Leonard Sidloski), Michael Jarvis, Jeffrey Kowal, Deidre and Leigh Jarvis, Darren Jarvis, James Termath, and Meghan Marchuk; and great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Greg-ory, Kayden, Seth, and Bennett.
Her brother, Stewart Woodcock of Duncan, B.C.; sisters, Eleanor Reimer and husband, Jake, and Irene Ricketts and husband, George, all of Vernon, B.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A prayer service was held Monday, May 6, 2002 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church in Rainy River.
Funeral mass was held Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church in Rainy River. Fr. Eugene Whyte O.M.I. officiated, with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River.
Pallbearers were Donald Jarvis, Michael Jarvis, Lonnie Lind, John Mykytyn, Wally Palaszewski, and Leonard Sidloski.
Honourary pallbearers were Sophie Arpin, Winnie Berard, Jane Burnell, Lorraine Dryden, Rose Hanson, Mary Haskins, Gisella Mykytyn, Iona Unger, Gladys Yeo, and Nettie Monastyrski.
