Sadly the family announces the passing of Irvin Selman, 90, of Rainy River, Ontario, on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at his residence at Rainy River Long Term Care.
Irvin was born on March 24, 1935, in Gameland, Ontario, to parents Mary and James (Carmen) Selman. He worked at many jobs over the years including driving gravel truck, trapping, grader operator, logging and in later years minnow trapping. He enjoyed fishing and camping with Iona.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children Walter (Shelley), Dean, Stanley, Janice (Vernon), Arthur, Nancy; his grandchildren Chrystal, Veronica, Kyle, Samantha, James; 11 great-grandchildren; his step children, step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Irvin was predeceased by his parents Mary and James (Carmen); his partner Iona Godin; his son Cecil; son-in-law Bertrand Kenty; siblings Beatrice (Nick) Medwechuk, Arnold Selman, Evelyn (Doug) Neilson, Howard Selman and Leonard (Sally) Selman.
Cremation will take place and burial to follow in the Blue Cemetery.
