It is with absolute sorrow in our hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful Queen, Mother, grandmother to all, sister, auntie, and cousin to the world, Iris Jourdain, 80, of Gakijiwanong Anishinaabe Nation at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont., on November 3, 2025, with her family by her side.
Iris was born on January 2, 1945, in Roseau River First Nation, Manitoba, to parents Clarence Henry and Mayanne Seenie.
She is one tough woman. She did not let this cancer take away her spirit or allowed it to bring her down. She fought that battle to the absolute end.

Grandma and Grandpa Steve believed in 3 things:
- Sobriety
- Education
- Our Anishinabee people!!
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Steve Jourdain Sr.; her children Steve Jr., Peggy, Gary Weiss (Cathleen) and Vince Tookenay; grandchildren Karrah, Tyler, Miles, Michael, Robert, Rachel, Kaitlyn, Alex and Adam. She will also be missed by many adopted grandchildren, Melissa and Eric, Edith, Oz, Desmond, Shana, Charlo, Kaitlyn and Nico, Clara Rachel, Marie Weiss, Michael Weiss, Flora Weiss, Robert Weiss Kelsey and Eitan, Lenora, Eli. Also survived by siblings Marie Henry, Marlene Henry, and also the Jourdain and Henry families and including many spiritual adult adoptions that made us a bigger family that includes the Hairs and the Kovarys.
She was predeceased by daughter Sharon; niece Marcella; and brothers Donald, John, Garnett, Gerald and sisters Irene, Bernice, Millie and Brenda.
Her Legacy and teachings will forever live on.
I love you so much Gram. You were the best part of me and I am who I am because of you. You will and always will be my best friend!

A wake was held on Thursday, November 6, at Lac La Croix First Nation with traditional service on Friday, November 7, with Elder Gilbert Smith.
Arrangements entrusted to Northridge Funeral Home Ltd., Emo, Ontario.
