In loving memory of Geraldine Chase, 90, of Fort Frances, Ont., who passed away Sunday, March 21, 2004 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Geraldine was born June 27, 1913 in Pinewood, Ont. to Albert and Katie Reid. She graduated from Fort Frances High School and had worked at the Fort Frances Clinic and La Verendrye Hospital as a medical assistant.
Mac was united in marriage to Norman George Chase on Oct. 18, 1932.
She was a member of the Redwing Rebekah Lodge and a former member of the Women’s Business Professional. She was very active in her church, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian, and was a member of the Mission and the women’s group.
She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and being at home with her family. She also loved music, and passed that passion down to her children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Katie Reid; husband, Norman on Jan. 3, 1978; daughter, Jane Dufresne on May 22, 2003; son-in-law, Jack Mott; brother, Robert Reid; and sister, Christine Edworthy.
Geraldine leaves behind her daughters, Gerrine Mott of Winnipeg, Man., and Marlene and husband, Harold Armstrong, and Jo-Anne and husband, Doug McCaig, all of Fort Frances, Ont.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Heather Lynn (Guenther) Schaub, Christopher (Michelle) Mott, Harold (Carmel) Armstrong, Kathryn (Stephen) Kaszas, Guy (Maria) Dufresne, Todd (Clare) Dufresne, Wendy Dufresne (Bob), Patti-Jo (Peter) LeDrew, Mark McCaig (Kristia), Robert (Kristine) McCaig, James (Louse) Mott, and Jeffrey Mott; great-grandchildren, Amy and Karl Schaub, Keilan Mott, Dennis, Ann, Katie, and Nicki Mott, Ciaran and Aidian Armstrong, Stephen and Hallie Kaszas, Mathew and Sarah Dufresne, Chloe Dufresne, Ashley and Michael McCaig, Billy and Katie McCaig, and Kassidy and Hanna LeDrew; and sister, Elsann (Rod) MacLeod.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Fort Frances. Pastor Todd Statham officiated, with interment in the Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers were her grandchildren. The honourary pallbearers were her great-grandchildren.
