It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Feitze Harm van Zwol. Feitze was born in March 19, 1981, in Briltil, Netherlands, to Jan and Sietske van Zwol, where he grew up on the family dairy farm alongside brothers Arjen, Remco, Jasper and sister Louise. The family immigrated to Canada in 1987 to Stratton, Ontario, where they continued their dream of dairy farming.
Feitze attended Sturgeon Creek Alternative Program where he graduated in 1999. He then went on to work a year in New Zealand with Agriventure, where he was able to continue caring for all sorts of animals, before returning home to work on the family farm. Farming was something Feitze loved and wouldn’t hesitate to help out with baling, raking or cutting. He was truly a farmer at heart.
Feitze then went on to work for Select Construction where he worked alongside Pete, Arjen and Tim Adam. Days started early and ended late, but Feitze never complained because, as he liked to say, “Honey, we are strong powerful men and work needs to be done!”
Feitze met the love of his life, Andrea in 2011. They were married on September 27, 2014, and welcomed their miracle son, Haiko, on November 26, 2019. The love Feitze felt for Andrea (his Hunny Bunny Poopsie) and Haiko (his turkey) was felt with everything he did. He enjoyed their walks to see the horses, when they fed the sheep, his adventures with Haiko down by the river and endless tractor rides. Feitze was a great mentor and phenomenal father to Haiko and loved sharing his knowledge of all things with him.
Feitze wasn’t a man of many words, but once he got to know you his conversations were always warm, thoughtful, humorous and deeply personal. He was level headed, honest, had a soft heart and didn’t hesitate to help a neighbour in need. Feitze’s quick wit, likeable personality and work ethic won the hearts of many and earned much respect.
Feitze has left a huge hole in the hearts of many: his brothers Arjen (wife Angie, children Cassandra, Zachary, Nathaniel), Remco (wife Mindy, son Haydon), Jasper (Willeke, foster children Olivia and Jordan, partner Candice), sister Louise (husband Ansel, children Annika and Karina); sisters-in-law Tanya (husband James, children Willow and River), Erika (partner Rob and daughter Sophie); in-laws Norman and Lecea Bodnar and parents Jan and Sietske van Zwol. He will be truly missed by many.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, at the Emo Christian Reformed Church at 1:00 p.m.
