DOUG RICHARD

With profound sadness, the family of G. Douglas Emil Richard, 59, announce his sudden passing on Monday, April 25, 2016 at his home.
Doug was born in Winnipeg, Man. on Aug. 16, 1956 to George and Bertha Richard, one of seven siblings.
The family lived in multiple Mando bush camps prior to moving to Atikokan, Ont. in 1966.
At a young age, Doug worked with his father in various Mando camps as a logger. He worked for multiple logging companies in the Atikokan area, including Boise, C&H Logging, and McCool’s.
Doug owned his own logging business, DR Logging, for many years. Most recently, he was employed at Castle Building Centre in Atikokan.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, photography, building, and mechanical/small engine work. He also enjoyed reading and watching movies, and he always was willing to lend a hand when friends and family needed it.
Doug and Denine recently travelled to Niagara Falls and Alberta to visit family.
Doug met the love of his life, Denine, in the summer of 1993. Together, they raised two sons, Neil and Nick. He was extremely proud of his two children and was looking forward to attending his youngest son’s university graduation later this month.
Doug was giving, helpful, and friendly, especially to the customers at the Castle Building Centre.
Doug is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife, Denine; sons, Neil and Nick of Atikokan, Ont.; siblings, Cathy (Joe) Basha of Pickering, Ont., Linda Silvani of Thunder Bay, Ont., Pearl Cross of Atikokan, Ont., Cindy Richard of Winnipeg, Man., Laura Hanlon of Atikokan, Ont., and Dan (Shannon) Richard of Atikokan, Ont.; in-laws, Dave (Dixie) Robar of Fort Frances, Ont., Debbie (Dale) Coughlin of Keswick, Ont., Donna (Morley) Kroocmo of Atikokan, Ont., and Dwayne (Vikki) Robar of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
