Cecilia (Cecile or Sis) Davidson, 72, of Atikokan, Ont., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015 with family by her side.
Born March 27, 1942 in Fort Frances, Ont., Cecilia was the first-born child of Edward and Marjorie Bruyere.
Cecile’s childhood was spent in Sapawe, Ont. and she completed high school in Fort Frances. Cecile went on to complete an office administration course and worked for the Atikokan Board of Education as secretary and librarian, retiring in 1999, one year after the opening of North Star School.
The greatest joy she received from her career was the children, watching them learn and grow.
Cecile met the love of her life and soulmate, Bobby, and they married Jan. 11, 1962. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a romantic movie date in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Their love for one another was apparent by their actions and the way they looked at one another, forever young.
Cecile was a loving and devoted mother to her children. Her love and devotion grew with each grandchild; they truly were the sunshine of her life, her pride and joy.
Cecile’s giving nature was shared with the community, as well. She devoted time to the Atikokan Shelter of Hope, the Pictograph Gallery, and the Catholic Women’s League.
She also enjoyed socializing with her many friends, and her years participating in the Cavalcade of Stars gave her much joy and laughter.
Cecile touched the lives of many, through her career and the childhood friends of her children. She opened her heart and home to many, and her beautiful smile will be missed by all who were fortunate to have been a part of her life.
Cecile will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted husband, Robert; children, Jackie Davidson (James), Bridget Davidson, and Jason (Eartha) Davidson; and grandchildren, Tyler Warren, Michael Warren, Laz Magashazi, Britney Cruz, Jeffery Dawydenko, Emily Atkinson, and Mikayla Davidson.
She also will be missed by her siblings, Francis “Pogo” (Darlene) Bruyere, Allan “Spud” (Debra) Bruyere, Harry (Peggy) Bruyere, Gerald “Jerk” Thurier, and Patsy “Patti” (Dan) Fraser; in-laws, Marlene Davidson, James (Nancy) Davidson, Garvin Moffat, and Wally (Shelley) Davidson; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her dearest friend, April Girard.
Cecile was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Marjorie Bruyere; sisters, Rebecca, Margaret, and Judy; niece, Joanna Fraser; sisters-in-law, Linda Davidson and Peggy Moffat; brothers-in-law, Allan Davidson and Bruce Davidson; and nephew, Doug Moffat.
Friends are invited to join with the family for the funeral mass on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Atikokan.
A luncheon will follow.
In memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Atikokan Shelter of Hope, Atikokan General Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
