Dance Hall celebrates grand opening with a walleye fish fry

The Dance Hall Community Association is celebrating their grand opening with a walleye fish fry. This celebration takes place this Sunday, August 24, at the Dance Hall from 4-6:30 p.m.

The cost is adults $25, youth 5-12 years $12 and youth 5 and under eat free. Take out meals are available.

Tickets can be purchased at Cloverleaf Groceries, Devlin General Store, General Supply and tickets are available at the door.

The Dance Community Hall is located on Hwy. 613, 16 km then turn left on Dance Hall Rd.

The Rainy River District Fall Fair has come and gone, another successful fair took place this year. The weather cooperated. Congratulations to the many winners competing in the vast amount of categories that are available to enter and compete in.

The fair board once again worked hard to host one of the best fairs in northwestern Ontario.

Now that the fair is over the next step is for school to start. This year the first day of school is Wednesday, September 3.

Happy 90th birthday wishes going out to Ken McKinnon on August 20. Ken has volunteered many hours to not only the LaVallee Municipality but the entire district. Be sure to wish him birthday wishes for this milestone birthday. A small gathering will be held for Ken on August 23.

Congratulations to Jael and Jacob Gerber on their recent marriage. The couple were wed Saturday, August 16, at the Victoria Baptist Church. Proud parents are Andrew and Monika Nussbaumer and Jacob and Ruth Gerber. May you enjoy a blessed marriage for many years to come.

Happy 70th birthday to Grant Watson. Grant celebrated his birthday on August 17, with a family gathering.

Happy 60th birthday to Mark Rea. Mark’s birthday was August 16.

Happy 86th birthday wishes to Les Mose on August 18. Les continues to share his history of the Burriss and surrounding area with many. Being one of the true historians in the area.

Sincere sympathy to Carol and Mark Hyatt and their family in the passing of Carol’s sister Judy James. Judy passed in Nova Scotia on August 7, following a lengthy illness. People are remembering you in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.
