The Emo Legion Branch #99 will hold Cenotaph services and events as follows:
- Church service: 10:00 a.m. at the Emo Legion
- Emo cenotaph: 11.00 a.m.
- Devlin: noon
- Barwick: 1:30 p.m.
- Stratton: 2:00 p.m.
- Rainy River First Nations Manitou Cenotaph: 2:45 p.m.
There will be a free will luncheon at the Emo Legion at 12:00 p.m.
A Remembrance Day dinner will be served at the Emo Legion beginning at 5:00 p.m.
The cost is $20.00 and children 10 and under pay $10

The Emo Legion will host its next Beer and Burger on November 14. A Country Jam follows Beer and Burger with music starting at 7 p.m.
Sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Marilyn McKinnon. She was a strong, hardworking woman. She will be lovingly remembered for her love of her family.
There will be a supper at the Dance Community Hall on November 16, from 4-6 p.m. The meal will be pulled pork, french fries, coleslaw, desserts, plus beverages.
Tickets are $30 a couple, $20 per person, $10 for youth age 7-12 pay $10 and 6 years and younger eat free.

The Lions Hunter Fundraising Supper takes place November 8, at the Stratton Rec Centre. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Penny tables, silent auction, live auction, 50/50 draw, live entertainment, roulette wheel and much more make up for a great evening and fundraiser. Tickets can be purchased online at westlions.ca, from Telford Advent at 271-2007, or Kent Ogden at Cloverleaf Grocers, or any West Rainy River District Lions club member.
Only 450 tickets will be sold for this event.
The St. Mary’s Parish CWL will host a Christmas Tea and Bazaar on November 16th. from 2-4 p.m. Admission is $5, children under 7 years old pay $2.

After being married for 50 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day and said, “Fifty years ago we had a cheap house, a junk car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10-inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 23-year-old girl.”
“Now… we have an $800,000 home, a $65,000 car, a nice big bed and a large-screen TV, but I’m sleeping with a 73-year-old woman. It seems to me that you’re not holding up your side of the bargain.”
My wife is a very reasonable woman.
She told me to go out and find a hot 23-year-old girl and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap house, driving a junk car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 10-inch black and white TV.
