Once again I am coming to you from an airport waiting on a delayed flight. It seems normal for me but I always try to remind myself that everything happens for a reason so perhaps it is safer for me to be sitting waiting. This is my last trip until February so I am excited to get there and get back home again. I will head right into Guelph for a Beef Research meeting and then make my way back to Toronto for our BFO Board meeting. I quite like the meeting in Toronto because I am so close to the airport that I don’t have the traffic/travel worry. I am not a great traveler and I am sure most find that funny because it seems like I am always on the road. Originally they had proposed this board meeting take place on December 22nd and 23rd. I spoke up and said that I wouldn’t make those dates as I would be lucky if I even made it back for Christmas! Thankfully everyone else agreed with me.
I Zoomed into my meeting that took place in Calgary last week and things went well despite it being a very long day sitting staring at the computer. It was well worth it when I was home 20 minutes after the meeting ended. Like I have mentioned before, most don’t have as much driving time as I do and it is easily forgotten when they are home before my flight even takes off.
I sent Maddie and Marlee a catalogue of a Hereford Sale that took place on Friday and said “pick your favourites.” The coolest thing was that we all had the same picks. I tried to buy but they were expensive and I get nervous spending that kind of money. I was very happy for the sellers, including our very own Bujold Farms who sold a beautiful heifer calf! Aaron is just returning for the elite Agribition Show in Regina and he represented us very well once again. I am hoping to make that show next year but I have been saying that but when these other travel plans come up it takes away from the “fun travel.”
I still am feeding my cows a fair distance from the barn / water and with these cold temperatures I debated on moving them closer to home. They started to come home on their own so I left them. They are in a nice sheltered area and I will need to get them home in the next week and a bit for vaccination and deworming anyway. They seem to be doing well! I was a bit worried about my ducks as they still continue to get themselves fairly wet and have been iced up a bit with these colder temperatures. They do spend a bit more time in their shelter so I am thinking they are doing ok as well. They are silly things, like who would want to cover themselves in water at -30?
Emo Holly Days seemed to be a great success once again! My mom and I enjoyed the vendors and shopping close to home! I still don’t have many gifts but have been spoiling myself these last few weekends! The Emo parade and fireworks were a huge hit! Thanks to those who participated and organized this great event!
I have not finished my outside lights! Ugh – but it will happen and it will be worth a visit!
