Carney sets Canada apart from its southern neighbour

Who realized that in the last federal election that we would elect a progressive conservative to lead and transform the Liberal Party of Canada into a progressive conservative party. Mark Carney has done that single handed and today Canada is already stronger and more independent from the United States.

Under his leadership, Canada has become a more sought-after partner with other nations. This week in his attendance at the United Nations, Carney is the most popular leader who is being sought by other nation leaders and business leaders from around the world. Carney in his messaging is opening new markets around the world while reducing trade September deficits with the United States. And on Sunday joining with Australia, Briain, Portugal, France and 191 other nations, Canada participated in a joint announcement recognizing Palestine as a nation. It broke with the United States and Isreal. It will not end the conflict but will give recognition to the two-state solution that has long been sought for the mid-east. It is another step that Canada has taken to separate itself from the US.

Under his leadership, we are now considering submarines from either Germany or Korea, fighter jets from Sweden or Europe rather than F-35’s from the United States. We have signed trading deals with Australia in which the two countries will develop over the horizon radar detection systems.

And now under his leadership, Carney will be selling a conservative budget. It will be long in infrastructure and defence. Just as every conservative budget begins with announcements that efficiencies will be required in every ministry. It is the beginning salvo that is being delivered. It is the forward that the government wishes to return to fiscal sanity even though it will run up a higher deficit than in previous years.

With declining employment, issues around health care, a shrinking economy, this government has its work cut out to meet its ambitious targets to become less reliant on the United States. The minister of finance has reiterated that operation funding will be frozen, but infrastructure and defence spending will grow. In recent communications, Carney advised us to pay less attention to what Trump posts on Truth Social every day, as he states, we are in control of our own destiny and under his leadership, Canada is seeking more economic opportunities, one not reliant on the changing policies of our neighbors to the south.

This is a middle of the road government, governing neither from the left or the right. It is what Canadians hoped would happen and are now being pleased that we have a progressive conservative government,
