The Rainy Lake Readers meeting has been POSTPONED January 28, due to extreme cold. It will be held at 6 p.m. in the Shaw Community Hub of the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre. The Monthly Supper by The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary to Branch #29 will be held Friday, January 31. On the menu is a pork cutlet dinner, with all the trimmings. Tickets are $25 or $12 for those under 12. Only 125 meals are available, and must be pre-paid. Tickets for dine-in delivery or pick-up are available at the Legion office, weekdays 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. or the Senior Centre, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Thursday or by calling Vicki at 807-271-3514. The dinner will be upstairs in the Legion at 5:30 p.m. – Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Tickets for delivery must be purchased by January 28.

Tour de Fort presents Shred Kelly, Friday, January 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the Townshend Theatre. Emerging from the majestic landscapes of the Canadian Rockies, Shred Kelly is a powerhouse band that seamlessly blends elements of alternative, folk, and rock music. This performance is not included in the annual passport – tickets must be purchased. A Roast Pork Supper will be hosted by the St. John the Baptist Anglican Church Fort Frances, Friday January 24th – 5 to 7 pm. Roast pork, mashed potatoes, turnips, carrots, salads, assorted cakes. Memory Lane Cafe is being hosted by the Alzheimer Society of Kenora Rainy River Districts on February 5. A warm, inviting space for individuals living with dementia and their care partners to connect, socialize and participate in enriching activities. It fosters a supportive atmosphere where participants can share experiences, form friendships and access community support. Sips of History: Beer Pairing and Brewing Tales will be held February 8 from 5-8 p.m. at Hallett Brewing. Brought to you by the Fort Frances Museum and Cultural Centre, with food provided by Eat Best Catering. Enjoy learning about the 100 year history of beer brewing in Fort France while enjoying locally brewed beers paired with delicious small servings of food, including four savoury dishes and a delicious dessert. First, enjoy a flight of 4 beers paired with a 4 savoury dishes. Then listen to a talk about the history of brewing in Fort Frances artifacts related to brewing from the museum’s collection. Finally, a beer paired with a delicious dessert will close out your night. Open to those 19 years of age and older and is limited to 30 spaces. Private tables can’t be guaranteed. The Rainycrest Tuck Shop is accepting donations– The Tuck Shop is open to residents, family, staff and visitors. Great items for donation are things like large stuffed bears, knick knacks, gift items and items for residents to place on their night stands or wall/door. Proceeds from the Tuck Shop go to the Rainycrest Auxiliary, which benefits residents. Donations can be dropped off inside the main entrance, labelled ATTN: Tuck Shop.
