New Chamber committee anticipates busy year

After years of forming committees to handle initiatives on an event-by-event basis, the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce has struck a new events committee, which will meet for the first time Monday night.
“We decided one committee would plan the whole year out,” Chamber co-ordinator Dawn Booth said Monday morning.
“This way, we could focus more on each individual event, with no overlapping,” she added.
Booth said people can expect to see some familiar Chamber events this year, like the “Quest for the Best,” as well as some new ones.
“The Chamber has a lot of interesting events we’re working on. For instance, we’re planning a new, wonderful, spectacular event that’s along the lines of the trade show, but not like any we’ve had before,” she enthused.
The Chamber is looking to stage an event at least every second month, including its “Business After Hours” mix-and-mingles, awards banquet, Christmas gala, and much more.
The committee of 12 consists of several members of the Chamber’s board of directors as well as owners and employees of local businesses.
