The fifth meeting of “The United Beef Club” was held at Anthony and Erica Boersma’s house on Monday, June 11 at 7 p.m. Club president Matt Neilson called the meeting to order and we recited the 4-H pledge.
Then all the members said roll call, which was, “Name the breed type of your calf.”
After that, everyone took turns reading about ways to increase the profit of stocker and feeder cattle. We also learned about processing calves and adapting them to the cattle operation.
Then we went over “Before the Next Meeting” for the fourth meeting. It was about what farmers did in the early spring and summer to keep their livestock healthy.
The meeting adjourned around 8:30 p.m. Cookies and juice were served by the Boersmas.
The next meeting will be held at the Gemmell house, with a beef fun day to be held directly afterwards. The meeting is slated for July 30 at 10 a.m.
There also will be a clipping demonstration at the fun day.
