Empty promise?

To the editor:
At the council meeting Monday night, Coun. Dave Bourgeault questioned S/Sgt. Hugh Dennis as to whether anything could be done to help the kids hanging out around the pool hall.
These kids complained of having nothing to do.
It should be pointed out that Mayor Witherspoon’s councils do not have a good reputation when it comes to kids. He has been mayor since “Ice for Kids” was conceived.
It took six years for he and his council to declare themselves publicly, with a condition attached.
The condition was met and now, in his seventh year, the promise proved empty.
