Northwest Livestock Emergency Assistance

Announced in Emo on Tuesday, July 27 by Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford and Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Lisa Thompson, the province of Ontario has launced the Northwest Livestock Emergency Assistance Initiative.

The initiative will provide up to $2-million to farmers in the Kenora and Rainy River Districts to help offset the costs of bringing in hay and other animal feed, as well as purchases of equipment to bring new water sources and temporary fencing to allow farmers to weather the immediate impacts of the drought conditions being experienced in the district.

Each component of the initiative is being overseen by different organizations; the Emergency Feed by Beef Farmers of Ontario (BFO) and the Emergency Water / Temporary Fencing by AgriCorp.

The links below will bring you directly to the relevant page for each organization and will have complete details for how farmers can apply to each program, the application form and what the requirements are needed to qualify for this emergency funding.
