Curvy Chick’s Jennifer Horton, left, Oh Boy Sweets’ Jen Tkachyk, Riverside Community Counselling Services’ community family violence counsellor Jacquee Loerzel and 807 & Co. Boutique’s Kaylie Lundgren marked Friday, November 13 as “Wear Purple Day” in the district as a part of Riverside Community Counselling Services’ “Shine the Light” campaign to raise awareness of and against women abuse. The three business owners contributed to the Shine the Light campaign this year with a number of fundraising initiatives. Tkachyk’s cookie fundraiser brought in $455, Lundgren brought in $320 through earring sales and Horton collected $592 worth of donations through her “buy one, donate one” initiative, with all proceeds and items going to the sexual assault department at Riverside Health Care.
