The BIG TENT is Going UP

After a couple years dormant, the BIG TENT is going up again. The Rainy River Walleye Tournament is forging ahead with plans for this year’s Tournament and that includes the BIG TENT.

However this is no small undertaking. It takes an army of volunteers on the day of the erection and a trained foreman to supervise the project.

The first item on the agenda is cleaning and preparation. After two years in storage the various canvas sections must be laid out flat, scrubbed, pressure washed, dried and then turned over and the process completed. Richard Trenchard, Ziggy Seguin, and Brent Helgeson are enlisting the assistance of our Volunteer Fire Departments in undertaking that chore.

With the Town of Rainy River crew putting in the securing stakes at Hannam Park the community volunteer crew is then ready to erect the roof. It takes a couple of dozen people working together to quickly, safely and easily complete that little chore. Many hands make light work.

The setting provided by the Big Tent adds an amazing amount to the atmosphere of the RRWT. If it is hot and sunny, the shade is most welcoming. If it is cold, windy, or rainy, the sides go up and it is comfortable and airy. No problem social distancing here. 2021 will be a great RRWT in the Big Tent…. But only if you lend a hand and participate.

The scheduled date for “We Rise Again” is Thursday, August 26 8:00 am, weather permitting. Please do your part and lend a hand. Call or TEXT Richard Trenchard at 807-276-7580. Watch for info on the Talker Boards, the website at rrwalleye.com or on facebook, Rainy River Walleye Tournament.

So come out and “Get Hooked”.
