Christmas is coming and so are the school/church concerts.
The Emo Centennial Choir will kick the season off this Monday (Dec. 10) at 7:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo. A silver collection will be taken up, with a portion of the proceeds for the food bank.
Crossroads School will hold its Christmas concert Thursday, Dec. 13, followed by one at Sturgeon Creek on Friday, Dec. 14. Finally, Donald Young School will hold its concert Tuesday, Dec. 18.

The congregation of the Christian Reformed Church welcomed guest speaker Calvin French from Princeton, Mn, who led both the morning and evening service Sunday.
Rev. French had begun his ministry just this past June at Princeton.
The choir participated with the hymn, “All the Earth is Waiting.” John and Donna Sinninghe lit the Advent wreath and had the responsive reading.
A candle will be lit each Sunday during Advent.

The Betty Kellar Memorial 500/cribbage tournament was held Saturday (Dec. 1) at the Emo Legion. Cribbage winners included Mike Thompson and Cindy Westover (high), Patty and Larry Larson (consolation).
In 500 play, the winners were Marion Larson and Larry Kellar (high), with consolations to Irene Lougheed and Irene Skirton.
Door prizes were won by Mary Ellen Brigham and Lynn Kellar.

Cribbage winners at the Emo Legion last Wednesday (Nov. 28) were Gladys Allen and Elder Jack (high), with consolations to Rudy Meyers and Pat Hyatt.
Mervin Hyatt won the door prize.

This Saturday (Dec. 8) at the Women’s Institute Museum in Emo, the Burriss WI will be displaying history books. This will give people a chance to look at what has been collected to date.
It also will be an opportunity for those who have history to turn in to do so at this time.
A tea, bake, and craft sale also is planned from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., with all proceeds going to the WI Museum.
