Muskie Girls Hockey joins Chemo Bag project

As the Window and Door Store’s Chemo Bag initiative moves into the final phase, the team got a heartwarming injection of help from the Fort Frances Muskies.

A Chemo Bag is a collection of comfort items, which have been assembled through countless donations from local businesses, organizations ands individuals. Once the bags are assembled, they’ll be donated to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments. The initiative was launched in recognition of the physical and emotional toll that chemotherapy can inflict. The bags contain items such as blankets, toiletries, puzzles, teas, inspirational messages and more.

Last week, the Muskie Girls hockey team partnered up with the Girl Guide Sparks and Embers to create blankets for the bags. Using material which was donated by Betty’s of Fort Frances, and cut by the Muskie Cheerleaders, Muskie girls Avery and Danielle, alongside the Guides worked under the guidance of the Window and Door Store, to lend a hand.

“As the community continues to rally behind the Chemo Bags initiative, the Muskie Girls hockey team stands as a shining example of the impact that can be achieved when individuals come together for a common cause,” noted a release from the Window and Door Store. “Their selflessness and compassion serve as a beacon of hope, reminding us all of the transformative power of collective action in bringing comfort and support to those facing adversity.”

The donation phase of the project is about to close. Anyone who is still hoping to donate is asked to contact the Window and Door Store at 1-800-815-2379.
