This week we sat down with Patrick Davis driver of the #10D Wissota Midwest Modified.
What is your favourite race track food? My favourite is taco in a Bag whenever it’s available.
At what age did you start racing? I started racing at 43.
Why did you start racing? My dad and uncle raced in the early 80’s at Barker Memorial Raceway in Geraldton ON which started my lifelong obsession with racing. I guess you can say I’ve wanted to race since my early childhood, just never had the chance. So when a new track was announced to be opening in Kenora, I took the opportunity to get a race program put together to race there. My first official race was actually here in Emo in 2018. I’ve raced both here and Kenora regularly since then and consider both my home tracks.
What advice would you give to someone who would like to start racing? My advice to anyone starting out is first, make sure you have good safety equipment. Don’t be afraid to ask veterans for advice. It will speed up the learning process. Show up to the track prepared to race. Seat time can’t be stressed enough. Don’t worry about winning right away. Learn how to race, hold your line and hit your marks. Speed will come with time.
What is your favourite part about racing? Honestly my favourite part of racing is the racing family. Whether it is fellow competitors, fans, track officials etc. there’s no place I’d rather be on the weekends.
