After getting a quick lesson in rug-hooking, Mayor Roy Avis pulled a few loops last Wednesday afternoon at the Civic Centre. Debbie Ballard and Judy Kielczewski brought the “autumn” panel of the local Community Arts and Heritage Education Project—“What Hooks You Here?”—by the town hall to give mayor and council, as well as municipal staff, a chance to work on the piece. The four panels hopefully will be completed prior to late May, when Ballard and Kielczewski head to North Bay where they’ll be keynote speakers at the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild’s annual general meeting.
