Lakers introduce ticket draws

Category:

Worried about not being fast enough to buy one of the 50 coveted tickets for the Lakers games? Worry no more! The team has decided to move to a lottery system to select spectators going forward.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, the Lakers are currently only able to allow 50 spectators in the stands per game. Because not all fans are on social media, the team is asking people to spread the word to those who do not have access. In order to collect names of people who would like to be put into the draw for a chance to see a game in person we ask you to EMAIL your NAME and PHONE NUMBER, questions or comments to fflakersfans@gmail.com (or contact a Board Member.)

The team is currently in a hockey bubble with the Kenora Thistles. The rivals are scheduled for several games between now and Christmas, then will take a mandatory 14-day pause, during which only team practices can take place, before they bubble with another team, fresh from isolation.

The team has played three times already, with the Lakers taking each wins. Fort Frances won the opening game 9-1 and the December 11 game 4-1, with a 6-0 shutout on December 13. The next game is scheduled in Fort Frances this Friday, with the puck dropping at 7:30 p.m. The two meet up one last time on December 20 in Kenora.

The Thistles, formerly known as the Kenora Stars, is a AAA U18 team, brought on board to maximize game play with the bubble structure. They may be the visitors, but they're far from outsiders; many on the roster are home grown in Fort Frances.

Local players for the Thistles include: Darian Klem in goal, Declan Webb and Jace Dittaro on defence and Joshua Ward and Darnell Kempf in forward.

Keep an eye on the Lakers' social media feed or online at www.fortfranceslakers.com for updated schedules.

To keep everyone safe, the Lakers organization is abiding by ALL regulations/guidelines set in place by the Northwestern Health Unit, Town of Fort Frances, SIJHL, HNO & Hockey Canada. Masks must be worn at all times while in the arena.
