Fort Frances resident celebrates lottery win

Business owner plans to pay bills, buy tools and save for his retirement with winnings

Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Wade Bagacki of Fort Frances. Wade matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the September 11, 2020 LOTTO MAX draw to win $100,000.

"I'm a regular lottery player. I purchase tickets every time there is a draw and play the odd INSTANT ticket," shared Wade.

The 53-year-old entrepreneur checked his ticket while at the store. "When I saw the words 'Big Winner', I took a step back and the store clerk had to make sure the machine was right – I was tongue tied!” he shared. “This doesn't happen all the time.”

Wade told the woman he is dating and his family right away. "My brother didn't believe me and thought I was joking," he laughed. "I told my dad in person a few days later and it was nice to see his surprised reaction!"

Wade plans to save for retirement, pay some bills and buy some tools and a trailer for his home renovation business.

"This is a big relief, especially with the pandemic. It's a very nice feeling!" he concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Ski’s Variety on Second Street in Fort Frances.
