Fire ban could be expanded

A decision on whether to expand the restricted fire zone to the rest of the West Fire Region will be made sometime today, along with how long the ban will remain in effect.

A restricted fire zone has been in effect for a large area east of Highway 502 to Lake Nipigon and north to the CN rail line since last Friday.

Six vying for fair queen crown

Renée Desbiens (Daw), Miss J.A. Electric, is 17 years old and entering grade 12 at Fort Frances High School. She plans on being a registered nurse.

Living in Emo with her parents and brother, Ryan, she is bilingual in French and English, which will be handy in years to come. Her hobbies include camping, fishing, rollerblading, music, reading and just being with friends.
