Lavallee continues COVID restrictions

Robin McCormick

The Township of La Vallee is continuing with COVID-19 restrictions.

Even though many restrictions are being lifted in Ontario, our local council is not taking bookings at the Devlin Hall and the Devlin Ball Park remains closed to the public.

The Municipality will advise the public when there are any changes.

The August 12 Council Meeting will be held at the Devlin Hall. Social distancing will be practiced and any public wanting to attend will be requested to wear a mask.

Sympathy to the family and many friends of Tony Bliss who recently passed away unexpectedly.

I’ll never forget interviewing Norm Cain and him telling me about his many happy years working side by side with Tony at the Emo/ LaVallee Arena. Tony was the boss but every morning Tony world say to Norm “So what are we doing today Boss.” Norm spoke so highly of Tony, as a boss, friend and especially his expertise in making ice. Tony was well sought after to make ice and did it up to a short time ago.

Ian Booth is another person that speaks so highly of Tony. They often crossed paths at the Arena when Jamie was in hockey and later Ian’s grandsons.

I couldn’t help but notice both Norm and Ian would always have a smile on their faces when they spoke about Tony.

Family, friends and the district are blessed because of the importance Tony played in their lives.

Sincere sympathy to Sue and Brad Herman and their family in the recent passing of Sue’s father Gordon McMurray. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

Happy 70th birthday to Helen Allan, she celebrated this milestone birthday August 8. Our community wishes you mane more birthdays.

Why do eggs come in a flimsy styrofoam cartons and batteries come in a package only a chain saw can open?
