It was a full house at the Ethnic Supper at Our Lady of the Good Counsel in Rainy River, Sunday night, Feb. 16. Hosted by the Fr. Florentin Council of the Knights of Columbus, Grand Knight Dave Sharp of Stratton MC'd the event.
This year the Ethnic Supper was held in memory of Steve Yeryk. Yeryk, who passed away in the last year, was the longtime driving force organizing this always popular event.
The array of dishes was amazing. There was Indian Cuisine including flat breads, curries, and Tandori Chicken. Next came several kinds of meatballs, wild rice casseroles, and bean salads. There was mashed potatoes, ham, chicken, turkey, beef, pulled pork, more meatballs and a selection of gravies. And what ethnic supper would be complete without a huge tub full of Perogies . . . don't forget the sour cream. And another of Holubchi (Cabbage Rolls). Not to mention the pickles, sauerkraut, rolls, coffee, tea, fritters, ice-cream, and...
There were of course door prizes and Ted Heyens inherited the position of chief ticket vendor for the massive Knights of Columbus 2020 Charities Lottery. Takeout service was of course available for those unable to attend the evening.
The K of C and the Catholic Women's League are to be congratulated for putting on another great Ethnic Supper. It is safe to assume no one left the Hall hungry or with any wrinkles left in their stomach.
I can hardly wait until next year.
