COVID cases delay school openings


Due to the increase in COVID cases, it was decided Crossroads and Donald Young Schools would not resume classes on January 11. At this time schools are set to resume January 25. This late opening has effected several schools in the district.

This is only one circumstance that is affecting our community and the lives of many. Here’s hoping people are managing to get through their days without too much hardship.

Get well wishes for a full recovery go out to Gayle Hyatt. Gayle suffered a heart attack on December 26. She spent time in Thunder Bay hospital undergoing surgery. Gayle is at home and recovering. Your community is hoping you have a full recovery.

Lois Shine is getting stronger and healthier every day. Lois underwent surgery in Toronto. She has been overwhelmed by the generosity of people in the RR District financially, support through caring wishes and folks keeping in touch. Lois would like to thank everyone who has touched her life with kindness.

Sympathy to the family of Ray Lowe’s. Ray passed last Thursday after a lengthy illness. He was a kind, hardworking and caring husband, father, grandpa and friend. He will be remembered by the many people that knew him.

Also belated sympathy and kind thoughts to the family and friends of Alvin Alexander.

Sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Joe Winik. Thinking of you all at this sad and difficult time.

A happy 80th birthday to Allan Mctavish. Allan turned 80 on Jan 7. Wishing you many more years of pep and energy.
