Town launches online Walleye Tournament with $5,000 in prizes

Press release

A virtual fishing tournament is being launched by The Town of Fort Frances, in collaboration with Angler’s Atlas. ‘Explore Rainy Lake Digital Fishing Tournament’, will be taking place from August 13 to August 22, 2021, giving anglers young and old, a fun and accessible catch and release competition.

The Explore Rainy Lake Digital Fishing Tournament is designed to get fishers back out on Rainy Lake, with an emphasis towards getting rods and reels in the hands of a new generation of young fishers. The event, the first of its kind in the area, is a creative response to having outdoor tournaments that meet the challenges faced by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tournament entry is easy. Register online and pay a $25 entry fee ($10 for youth) on the AnglersAtlas website at www.anglersatlas.com and download the free MyCatch app on a smartphone. Then venture out on the water anytime during the tournament dates, and capture the best walleye and sauger catches.

Battle with friends and family for bragging rights on the digital leaderboard, and compete for a chance to win up to $5,000 in prize money in categories for both adults and youth, including a $750 first overall prize for the longest-measured catch, and a $1,500 top place prize in the adult division.
