Muskies end season with a win

On Friday afternoon the Fort Frances Muskies ended their season with a hard-fought dramatic 10 – 8 upset victory over Kenora’s Beaver Brae Broncos.

The Muskies entered the game with a record of 2 wins and 4 losses while the Broncos came in with 4 wins against 2 losses.

Sophomore running back and middle linebacker Jaxon Strachan led the Muskies. In the second quarter Strachan raced 65 yards for a touchdown. The convert by Hayden Beckett gave the Muskies a 7-0 lead.

Beckett kicked a 27 yard field goal to give the Muskies a 10 nothing lead at half time.

The Muskie defense shut down Kenora’s potent offense until late in the 4th quarter. The Broncos capitalized on a turnover by the Muskies. The Broncos scored a short touchdown and were successful on a 2 point convert attempt to close the margin to 2 points. With less than a minute left Kenora was driving for the winning points when Strachan intercepted a Broncos pass to seal the Muskies 3rd win of the season.

The Muskies finish the season with a record of 3 wins and 4 losses in Division 3 of the Winnipeg High School Football League.
