Fort Frances Mayor Glenn Witherspoon, CAO Bill Naturkach, economic development officer Geoff Gillon, and Bruce Caldwell of the economic development advisory committee will attend the ninth-annual “Northern Networks” trade conference next week in Baraboo, Wis.
“We’ve hosted it before, I’ve been to it before, and every year it certainly gives us an idea as to where you stand with economic development,” said Mayor Witherspoon.
“It’s a great opportunity, and for a municipality not to go, it’s hard to be on the same page as the ones that do,” he added.
The region also will be represented by delegates from Thunder Bay, Dryden, and Kenora, the mayor noted.
Running Wednesday through Friday, the conference will focus on co-operative projects with First Nations in areas such as tourism, natural resources, and energy.
Mayor Witherspoon will speak at a breakfast sponsored by the Town of Fort Frances on Oct. 18.
The town is slated to host next year’s Northern Networks conference.
