The Board of Directors of Riverside Health Care is pleased to announce the appointment of Henry Gauthier as the new President and CEO effective February 18, 2020.
Riverside Board Chair Joanne Ogden stated that the entire Board, “Is very pleased to have Henry in the position.”
Originally from Thunder Bay, Henry holds a professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA) and brings over 25 years of progressively advanced healthcare experience to his role. He previously served as Riverside’s Vice President of Operations and CFO for four and a half years and most recently served as its Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. Henry has completed the Advanced Health Leadership program at the Rotman School of Management and the Long Term Care Administrator certificate from AdvantAge Ontario, as well as having recently obtained the Osgoode Hall Law School’s clinical risk, negligence and claims management certificate program for health care.
“This was not a simple promotion,” Odgen said. “Henry underwent a comprehensive interview with Board members and effectively answered pointed questions ranging from our financial situation, short and long-term strategies, recruitment issues and plans for enhanced relationships with our community partnerships and regional Indigenous communities.”
Ogden also shared, “Healthcare in the province, especially in Northern Ontario is going through substantial transitions, with a focus on reduction of hallway medicine, the introduction of Ontario Health Teams and proposed technical modernization. Healthcare Leadership Teams have to be creative thinkers, skillful deal makers and true effective and passionate leaders.” Adding, “We are wholly confident Henry is the right person at the right time for Riverside. He knows our organization better than anyone and has already surrounded himself with an exceptional team of senior leaders. We are excited to begin this new chapter.”
